General Practitioner Services
Community General Practitioner Services
Our Doctors are all Specialist General Practitioners or are completing their training to gain their Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
From time to time Medical Students in their 3rd year of training will complete a 6 weeks rotation with the Doctors. These medical students are attending the University of Qld for their medical qualification.
The practice runs on an appointment system with allowances made for emergencies. If you feel your medical problem requires a longer consultation please discuss this with the receptionist at the time of making your appointment.
If you make an appointment and do not attend you will be charged a $30 non attendance fee unless you give 2 hours notice.
Patients are seen in this order:
- With an appointment
- Without an appointment.
Please note that you should make individual appointments for each family member even though you may come together.
Patient Recalls and Reminder System
Patients will be notified when Pap smears become due and patients may be enrolled for notification when other health checks are due e.g. diabetes checks and health assessments. If you do not wish to be on a patient reminder systems please advise the receptionist.
In the interest of your best health it is not our policy to issue repeat prescriptions without a doctor seeing the patient. In most cases you will be bulk billed for a brief consultation.
Referrals and Medical Certificates
An appointment with the Doctor is usually necessary to receive a referral. Medical Certificates always require a consultation unless it is a continuation of an existing certificate.
Pathology and X- Ray Results
When having pathology and x-rays ordered please discuss with your Doctor what arrangements are preferred for you to obtain the results.
In many cases you will be required to make an appointment with the Doctor. Staff will not have access to the results but will have access to the Doctors comments on the results and these will be able to be passed on to you.
If there are further matters arising from your results which require discussion with your Doctor, an appointment should be made.
After Hours Services
When the surgery is closed our telephones answering service will instruct you on our practice opening hours as well as providing information of accessing care outside normal opening hours. The Home Doctor Service provides a GP home visit on behalf of our doctors to those who require a doctor in the after hours period.

Out of Surgery Visits
If you are too sick to come to the surgery, a home visit can be arranged. Where possible we prefer you to come to the surgery where we have all our equipment available. Visits can also be arranged for patients in nursing homes and hospitals.
All instruments are sterilised on the premises with state of the art sterilisation procedures. In addition, Audiogram and Spirometer are available.
We try to keep interruptions to all consultations down to a minimum by having the receptionist or nurse try to help you if at all possible. If the problem is urgent the Doctor will take the call. Otherwise please leave a detailed message and the Doctor will return your call later in the day.
