Doctors

Many of our doctors are specialist general practitioners with vast experience in patient care. Some of our doctors are completing their training to gain their Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

From time to time, third-year University of Queensland medical students shadow our doctors.

Our GPs connect with our culturally diverse community and bring with them a richness of experience from around the globe. Check the profiles for multi-lingual clinicians.

Appointments

The practice runs on an appointment system with allowances made for emergencies.

If you do not attend your appointment you will be charged a $40 non attendance fee unless you give two hours notice.

Patients are seen in this order:

  • Emergencies
  • With an appointment
  • Without an appointment.

If you require a longer consultation please notify reception when making your appointment. Note that you should make individual appointments for each family member even though you may come together.

Patient recalls and reminder system

Patients will be notified when cervical screening is due and patients may be enrolled for notification when other health checks are due e.g. diabetes checks and health assessments.  If you do not wish to be on a patient reminder systems please advise the receptionist.

Repeat prescriptions

In the interest of your best health it is not our policy to issue repeat prescriptions without a doctor seeing the patient.  In most cases you will be bulk-billed for a brief consultation.

Referrals and medical certificates

An appointment with the doctor is usually necessary to receive a referral.  Medical certificates always require a consultation unless it is a continuation of an existing certificate.

Pathology and x-ray results

When pathology and x-rays are ordered please discuss with your doctor what arrangements are preferred for you to obtain the results.

In many cases you will be required to make a follow up appointment with the doctor.  Staff will not have access to the results but will have access to the doctors comments on the results and these will be able to be passed on to you.

If there are further matters arising from your results which require discussion with your doctor, an appointment should be made.

After hours services

When the surgery is closed our telephones answering service will instruct you on our practice opening hours as well as providing information of accessing care outside normal opening hours. The Home Doctor Service provides a GP home visit on behalf of our doctors to those who require a doctor in the after hours period.
